Magarìa Chardonnay

Cantine De Gregorio - Magarìa Chardonnay

Description

Our Magarìa Chardonnay comes (like all our grapes) from our vineyards in Sicily.

Specifically, from the area of the Carboj river. Although now dried out, the Carboj river enhances the saline and mineral aftertaste typical in all our wines, but unexpectedly so in Chardonnay. It is therefore a variety that embodies the intrinsic qualities and features of our terroir despite being a grape not indigenous to Sicily.

After being harvested, our chardonnay goes into fermentation inside 500lt oakwood barrels called Tonneaux. It refines there for 6-8 months and it’s later transferred to the stainless-steel tanks, where it keeps on refining for another 4 months. It ends its production process into the bottle, where after 2 months is ready for the market.

This very special refining process makes our Magarìa Chardonnay especially precious because it enhances the typical vanilla, hazelnut and honey taste but without being too mellow thanks to the passage inside the Tonneaux.

The final result is a very elegant and clean wine, wonderfully paired up with lobster, white meat, grilled vegetables, seasoned cheeses, and truffles.
