The Azienda Agricola Caven was founded in the 1980s by Stefano and Simone Nera, co - owners - with their sister Angela - of the Casa Vinicola Pietro Nera, a historic Valtellina winery now in its fourth generation. Caven currently owns 25 hectares of vineyards in Valtellina, a small region in Lombardy, planted mainly with Nebbiolo "Chiavennasca", a native clone of the Nebbiolo grapes found in Piedmont.
